How I work
I provide a confidential space for CEOs and senior leaders to discuss their leadership challenges and develop personal strategies.
I combine elements of coaching, mentoring and consulting. My focus is on further developing your leadership capabilities. You set the agenda - I use methodologies that are proven and battle tested drawing on my experience as a manager and leader to help you and your organization achieve full potential.
I only work in contexts I know deeply from personal experience. This is why my work focusses on two segments: technology companies and professional services. I also occasionally support leaders from other industries as they lead their organizations through the transition toward becoming more software- or technology-driven.
Who I am
I am a trained leadership coach who has served as CEO of both private and public technology companies as well as professional services for over 20 years.
I have successfully scaled several organizations, led a global company with operations on five continents, established innovative business models and driven numerous efficiency programs. I have built and led world class executive teams over many years.
Now I serve on several boards and I support selective CEOs and other senior leaders on their leadership journeys.
About me
Over the past 25 years in the technology industry, I have had the privilege of leading three organizations through periods of rapid growth and profound transformation.
From 2002 to 2008, I served as VP and Country Manager of eBay Germany, at the time eBay’s largest market outside the United States. During my tenure, the German business grew nearly tenfold, from approximately $100 million to $1 billion in annual revenues.
Between 2009 and 2013, I was CEO of New Work SE (formerly XING AG), succeeding the company’s founder, Lars Hinrichs. My mandate was to scale and professionalize the organization. Over these four years, the company almost tripled in size.
From 2014 to 2024, I was a (Senior) Partner at Boston Consulting Group. I joined BCG Digital Ventures—BCG’s incubation and investment subsidiary—as its first employee in Berlin, built the European business, and was ultimately appointed Global CEO from 2018 to 2022. During that period, we grew the business from near zero to several hundred million dollars in revenue and incubated more than 200 new companies globally.
Since leaving BCG in 2024, I have focused on board roles and on working closely with a small number of CEOs, supporting them in their leadership journeys through growth, complexity, and transformation.
By training, I am a lawyer with a PhD in antitrust law and hold an MBA from INSEAD. Outside of work, I am happily married and the father of four wonderful children.
